The last 24 hours have been so simple. The 14 of us arrived in Ban Sam Kha — a tiny Northern Thai village of 170 families, tucked away in the mountains and nestled in between luscious rice fields.
It was the simplest day I’ve spent in a long time.
When we arrived, we were welcomed into the village in a lovely Buddhist ceremony then invited for some home cooked dinner. The following morning, we caught sunrise in the rice fields and learned how to harvest rice (it’s harvesting season now!). To wrap it up, we spent some time with kids in the school and they taught us how to weave Buddhist flags.
It feels like life moves in slow motion here. Nobody is rushing to get anywhere. And everyone is always smiling! This place is a true paradise.
Sometimes when I spend too much time in cities, I forget how relaxing it is in the countryside (anywhere in the world). It’s like hitting the “reset button” on life. I recommend taking a day trip to some small village sometime soon. You will thank me later!
