Today, in Panama City I met a young traveler named Jake Braymiller. He is currently teaching English in Yangzhou, China.
On January 19th, he had a trip scheduled to Bali for vacation, and as soon as he departed China, the coronavirus outbreak had just been announced. On the exact same day.
So for the last 6 weeks ago, Jake has not been able to return home to his apartment where he has all of his belongings. His teaching job is currently on hold, and will likely be cancelled overall, while his school is paying him a measly $30/day. And for now, amid all of this uncertainty, Jake is traveling the world — which I applaud him for doing so!
This video explains Jake’s full story. I will be sharing my thoughts and opinions on the coronavirus outbreak, how it’s impacting travel, and what precautions you should take (etc) in a video very soon — but for now, I’d love to get your thoughts on this giant mess. Do you think the media has over exaggerated this illness? Please comment below.
