DID YOU KNOW that Thailand gets 35 million visitors every year? Or that Forbes named Bangkok as the most popular city for international tourists? It’s truly mind-blowing how many foreigners you will see on the streets of Bangkok, myself included.
On one hand, mass tourism is good for Thailand’s economy — it pumps $100 BILLION USD annually into their society, which means better roads, better hospitals, more schools, more jobs and it gives the people a better overall quality of life.
But on the other hand, mass tourism brings MANY negative aspects to Thailand, which I discuss in detail in this video.
What are your thoughts on mass tourism, not just for Thailand but for any country? Do you think it’s a good or bad thing? Should we encourage it (like they do in Thailand), or take action to prevent it (like they do in Bhutan?!) Please share your thoughts below.
