While sitting on the beach today in Phuket, we were approached by a lovely lady named Mona Lisa. She offered to give me (and my parents) a massage, which we easily agreed because of her kindness and warming personality.
Not only was her massage one of the best I’ve ever had, but her story is so eye opening that I decided to make this impromptu video.
She has been working for 10 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year on this exact beach since 1979, while raising 5 children. The kicker? She makes an average of $25 USD per day.
Meeting people like Mona Lisa is always a reality check for me to appreciate the life that I live, because I am lucky. And if you are reading this right now, then you are also lucky because you have a computer and/or phone and internet access.
All too often, we take these things in our lives for granted.

PS– This video was entirely shot on my iPhone 10XS and Osmo Pocket. It’s the first time in 520+ videos that I didn’t use my GH5 and mic. Personally, I think the quality of the footage isn’t so bad, but the audio needed help. Would love to get your feedback on it!
